Earl has been the Treasurer at the United Presbyterian Church (UPC) for about two years and Director of Music since early 2025.
Earl has degrees in Music Education and in Mathematics Education from what is now Commonwealth at Mansfield and a PhD in Mathematics from Tulane University.
Earl was teacher of music in public schools in Newfoundland and in New Mexico, and taught mathematics at universities in Arkansas and Pennsylvania before coming to Alfred State College in 2003. During his time at ASC Earl Chaired the Mathematics and Physics Department and was a member of Faculty Senate. He both chaired the Senate and served as its Secretary-Treasurer. He was also treasurer, chapter president, and academic delegate for the Alfred Chapter of United University Professions. Earl retired from Alfred State College in 2022.
Earl has sung in church choirs in Mansfield, PA, Metairie LA, Monticello, AR, West Lawn, PA, and at UPC, and has served as choir director of the United Methodist Church in Mansfield and here at UPC.
He leads the handbell choir at UPC and has performed with handbell choirs at the United Methodist churches in Monticello, AR and in West Lawn, PA.
During Earl’s time as a Mathematics Education student at Mansfield University of Pennsylvania, he was treasurer for an ecumenical student Christian group.
